FRISCO, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Kevin Kipkosgei and Carnley Graham are the Southland Conference cross country athletes of the week, the league announced Tuesday.Southland Athletes of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank.The Wildcats are idle this week, returning to action Sept. 14 at the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock. Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athletes is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots. Women’s Athlete of the Week: Carnley Graham, Abilene Christian – Jr. – Prosper, TexasThe junior from Prosper, Texas, dominated the 41-competitor field at ACU’s home meet, finishing her 6K race in 22:29:2 — 80.2 seconds faster than Arianna Lopez of Texas Tech. Men’s Athlete of the Week: Kevin Kipkosgei, Abilene Christian – Fr. – Eldoret, KenyaKipkosgei won his collegiate debut against runners from Texas Tech, Angelo State, UT Permian Basin and Ranger College, clocking an 8K time of 26:26:33 at ACU’s Naimadu Classic. The freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, finished 9.2 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Stephen Alvarez of Texas Tech.
