Press Association Reports in Germany have claimed that United are preparing to table a big-money move for the forward. “It’s not my decision,” Lahm told reporters in Shanghai, where Bayern are preparing to face Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly. “Things can happen very quickly in football. Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm admits he cannot guarantee that Thomas Muller will not follow Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United. “I certainly can’t provide any guarantee for Thomas Muller (staying).” Lahm did insist there was no chance of him leaving Bayern, though. “That’s not going to happen with me,” he said. “I’m pleased that I’ve been able to spend practically all my career at home. “It’s great to be in the same club for so long.” And Lahm is not concerned about Bayern, who have dominated German football for the past three years, losing their domestic dominance. “We’re still a top club,” he said. “We’ve reached at least the semi-finals of the Champions League in recent years and we have a top team who would be playing at the top in any league. “We certainly don’t need to have any fear.”
London, United Kingdom | AFP | Sunderland were relegated to England’s third tier for the first time in 30 years on Saturday as the Championship’s bottom club lost 2-1 to fellow strugglers Burton.Chris Coleman’s side have crashed into League One only a year after being relegated from the Premier League. They have played only one season outside the top two tiers of English football in their entire history, winning promotion from the old Third Division in 1987-88. Burton striker Darren Bent returned to haunt his former team with an 86th-minute equaliser to cancel out Paddy McNair’s opener on 34 minutes at the Stadium of Light.Liam Boyce headed second-bottom Burton in front in second half stoppage-time before Sunderland had a late equaliser disallowed to provide a fitting finale to their wretched season.Sunderland are six points from safety with only two matches left and the remaining fixtures of their relegation rivals make it mathematically impossible to avoid the drop. Coleman, who took over from Simon Grayson in November, said: “Firstly I would like to apologise to everyone for coming up short, ultimately not having what was needed.“It’s a brutal experience and the disappointment is huge. Forty-four games we are into the season and we haven’t been good enough. “I don’t know where this club goes. We have not been told what’s what. I don’t know what the plan is.“Right now it’s very raw, it’s just happened. It’s brutally painful.“I have been here two minutes, the supporters have been here for years I can only imagine how they are feeling.”Share on: WhatsApp Pages: 1 2
To say that Roger Goodell’s tenure as NFL Commissioner is in peril is an understatement. He has been ducking and fumbling for the past 48 hours after being pelted with a torrential downpour of criticism from the media, the general populace and even Congress for the dubious handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence debacle.Conflicting reports are flooding the airwaves, literally causing brain overload, about whether or not the NFL saw the video of Rice delivering the left hook felt around the world prior to handing down the featherweight sanctions ( two games) on the ex-Baltimore Ravens running back.Several sources, including the now defunct casino and an anonymous law enforcement source, said the NFL either were given a copy of the nuclear hot videotape of the beating or that they could have easily attained it if they had just asked for it.Now congressmen are joining the media chorus calling for “transparency” and a former FBI director is going to conduct an independent investigation in order to unveil what the NFL knew and when they knew it.Many media members as well as women’s groups are calling for Goodell’s immediate resignation in light of the greatest scandal in the commissioner’s tenure. To top it all off, social media has Goodell in its jaws and are clamping down on the commish with hilarious memes mocking him for the comedy of errors that include changing the light suspension the indefinite suspension/ban from the NFL.Take a look:
