first_img Cumberland win 3-2 in five-goal thriller Wolmer’s Boys’ School were crowned the Under-19 high school water polo champions in a thrilling encounter with Campion College on Thursday night. It was a rematch of last year’s final when Campion College came out the winners, but this year the boys from Heroes Circle, led by their captain Orane Garrick, came out with a purpose and remained focused in securing an 8-7 victory. Both schools will renew their rivalry in the Under-16 final next week. Portmore Business House football at semi-final stage Passagefort, Garveymeade clash Wolmer’s are Under-19 water polo champions Defending champions Portsmouth Primary and arch-rivals Naggo Head booked their spots in the semi-finals of the INSPORTS Primary Netball League after commanding wins last Wednesday. Naggo Head trounced Bridgeport 23-3 and Portsmouth clobbered Ascot 21-6. In other games, Belmont Park defeated Greater Portmore 12-6. The other semi-finalists will be known after the playing of a fresh round of matches next week. the semi-finals will be on Friday, December 2, at a venue to be announced. The organisers of the INSPORTS Portmore Primary Football League have postponed the semi-finals which were scheduled for Thursday, November 24, due to the inclement weather. The semi-finals will now be played next Tuesday, November 29. The matchup will see defending champions Waterford against Naggo Head at 10 a.m. while the feature match at 11:30 a.m. will pit Portsmouth against Bridgeport. Both games will be played at the Portsmouth Primary playing field. Waterhouse United remained on top in the Jamaica Domino Council Association’s Premier League after last Sunday’s round of matches. Waterhouse United dismantled Mechanical Strikers 300-251 and surged to the top on 53 points, four points clear of second-place Caribbean Classic (49 points). Third-place Spit Fyah (46 points) failed to show for a game against International and they lost ground on the lead group. In other games, fourth-place Right Stuff (42 points) beat Small Axe 300-264; fifth-place Braeton All Stars (41 points) schooled Memory Lane 300-257; Bull Bay United outclassed Naggo Head 300-296; Jade Strikers defeated 300 Exceptional 300-282; Vintage Pub cut down Soursop tree 300-282.center_img INSPORTS Portmore Primary Football semis postponed Portsmouth, Naggo Head advance to last four Waterhouse on top The INSPORTS/Charles Chocolates-sponsored 5-a-side Portmore Business House Football League has reached its semi-final stage. On December 2, Konnexx will take on Portmore Gas at 7:30 p.m. and Tyre Warehouse tackle Lasco at 8:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Sunshine playing field in Naggo Head, Portmore, St Catherine. In a game Wednesday night, Wisynco outscored Network Plus 4-2. Calberth Coke scored a double while Norman Bailey and Romario Mitchell notched a goal each for the victors. Kirk Edwards and Everton Thomas were on target for Network Plus. Cumberland scored a 3-2 win over arch-rivals Braeton United in the opening round of the York Pharmacy-sponsored Portmore Division Two Football League last Sunday. In another game, Westchester clipped Caymanas Gardens 2-1. The league has attracted 10 teams, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals. Tomorrow’s matches: 1 p.m: Southboro vs Waterford – Racing field. 3 p.m: Racing United vs Edgewater at Ascot High. 3 p.m: Daytona vs Three West. Passagefort United and Garveymeade square off in the final preliminary-round game of the MP Colin Fagan-sponsored South East St Catherine Inter-Constituency Domino Tournament at the Garveymeade Sports Club in Portmore, St Catherine, tomorrow. Match time 1:30 p.m. The game’s only significance is for ranking for the semi-finals as both teams have already qualified. In last week’s games, Passagefort United jumped to 35 points from 11 matches after they defeated Waterford 250-232; fourth-place Garveymeade (31 points) humbled Rising Sun 250-200: second-place Ken’s Wildflower (35 points) beat Westmeade Rising Star 250-230. The fourth and final semi-finalists, Cumberland (34 points), were idle this round.
