These include-· Free transportation to their destination via special bus/train· Ex-Gratia one month minimum statutory wage amount to smoothen the process of finding a new job or resuming previous employment· One month’s free ration without insisting on a ration cardFurther, it has been prayed that the government be directed to prepare a composite plan for the rehabilitation of aggrieved workers in advance as well as to set up a “Migrant Labourer Crisis Management Board as a Common Gateway” to supervise and monitor these welfare measures and avoid such crisis in future. To further avoid a repeat of such a situation, Srivastava has also sought orders to establish a 24-Hour multi-lingual Call Centre which would act as a focal point providing accurate information and effective grievance redressal to migrant workers in case of any extreme exigency in the future. When the original plea came up for consideration last week, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Government, informed the Court that as of 11 am on March 31, there were no migrant workers on the streets. Complying with the directions of the Court, the government submitted its status report on the situation regarding the welfare of the migrant workers and the measures taken to prevent an exodus resulting from the nationwide lockdown. It was stated that all aggrieved workers had been taken to shelters or other government facilities where basic essentials were being provided to them.During the hearing, Srivastava had orally argued that amongst the “major reasons for the present exodus of the migrant labourers was the panic created by some fake news or rumour that the lock down would be extended for three more months.” Through the present application, he also seeks to put this argument on record, especially in light of the fact that the Government in its report addressed this issue and enunciated that “fake news capable of causing panic in the mind of population is found to be the single most unmanageable hindrance in the management of this challenge.” Taking note of the same, the Apex Court had asked the media to report responsibly and also agreed to direct the government to activate a daily bulletin with all relevant updates on the situation. Apropos this, the applicant also seeks a direction to the media to refer to the official version and publish the same. The Centre, in its report, had also stated that they were considering the option of providing counselling to douse the panic emanating from the outbreak of the novel Corona Virus. The matter is scheduled to come up for consideration by a Supreme Court Bench comprising of CJI SA Bobde and Justice L. Nageswara Rao.Click Here To Download Application[Read Application] Next Storylast_img read more

Authorities say they foiled an alleged ISIS-inspired attack on a Texas mall

first_imgiStock/Thinkstock(FRISCO, Texas) — Texas law enforcement officials said they have foiled an alleged ISIS-inspired attack on a north Texas mall with the arrest of a teenager whom authorities said tried to recruit others to join his planned attack. Matin Azizi-Yarand, 17, of Plano was arrested on Tuesday on charges he was plotting to shoot up the Stonebriar Centre Mall in neighboring Frisco, Texas, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced in a statement.Law enforcement officials say Azizi-Yarand had sent more than $1,400 to others for the purchase of weapons and body-armor. Authorities allege that he was planning to carry out the attack in mid-May. Officials say the teen also planned to “disseminate” a “Message to America” explaining the motives behind the alleged plot.Azizi-Yarand talked online with undercover FBI confidential sources about his desire to either “make Hijrah [a Muslim term meaning to travel to a more desirable place],” or to conduct a terrorist attack within the United States, according to court documents.Authorities said Azizi-Yarand even spent time at the Stonebriar mall planning how he would carry out the alleged plot. A court affidavit details the teen’s alleged communication with an FBI source, in which he’s accused of describing how he would kill a responding police officer. “I’d actually like to make a cop surrender and drop his gun, then douse him with gasoline and burn him [and] record it,” Azizi-Yarand is alleged to have said, according to a law enforcement affidavit.Azizi-Yarand planned to launch the attack during the holy month of Ramadan so as not to kill Muslims, according to the affidavit, which also noted that he planned to wait until his 18th birthday so he could legally purchase a rifle.“We can be even more careful if you’d like and take hostages and assess which ones we can kill letting go the elderly and the children,” Azizi-Yarand is alleged in the affidavit to have said.Authorities arrested Aziz-Yarand without incident at Plano West High School where he is enrolled. He’s being held on $3 million bond and is facing attempted capital murder charges, authorities said. The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Plano Police Department and the Frisco Police Department.Copyright © 2018, ABC Radio. Colts vs. Texans odds, prediction, betting trends for ‘Thursday Night Football’

first_imgFirst place in the AFC South will be on the line when the Colts (6-4) travel to play the Texans (6-4) on “Thursday Night Football” (8:20 p.m. ET, Fox, Amazon Prime Video, NFL Network). Indianapolis leads the division because of beating Houston at home earlier. Houston right now would make the playoffs as the AFC No. 6 seed.Should the Colts win, they would go from the No. 4 behind the Chiefs to No. 3. Should the Colts lose, they would drop to No. 7 behind the Raiders, to whom they lost. Should the Texans win, they would go from No. 6 to No. 3. Should the Texans lose, they would drop to No. 7, too, hoping the Raiders lose to the Jets on Sunday to get back to No. 6.Here’s everything to know about betting on Colts vs. Texans in Week 12, including updated odds, trends and our expert’s prediction for “Thursday Night Football.”MORE: Get the latest NFL odds & betting advice at Sportsbook ReviewColts vs. Texans odds for ‘Thursday Night Football’Spread: Texans by 3.5Point total: 45Odds: Colts -103, Texans -107The Texans are basically a little more than home-field favorites here after getting crushed on the road by the Ravens. The spread has gone up to 4 points in their favor for some sportsbooks. The Colts are coming off a convincing home win over the Jaguars.Colts vs. Texans all-time seriesThe Colts have dominated the series since it began in 2002 when the Texans entered the NFL, going 28-8. The Colts have won three straight and five of six, including the teams’ wild-card playoff meeting last January, 21-7. The Texans beat the Colts in overtime in Indianapolis last September.Three trends to know— 57 percent of spread bettors are going with the Texans. 57 percent of moneyline bettors are going with the Colts.— With Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett as the quarterbacks, despite injury concerns on both offenses, 55 percent of bettors like the game to go over the point total.— The Texans are 2-5 against the Colts over the past three seasons. Only 3 of the past 8 games between the teams have gone over.Three things to watchWill Fuller return? The Texans need some wide receiver pop downfield to help DeAndre Hopkins and Watson. Will Fuller was close to coming back from his hamstring injury against the Ravens and is a game-time decision to see his first action since Week 7. Should he go, it would be a huge needed boost to Watson against the Colts’ secondary. No Mack — but likely yes HiltonThe Colts will be without Marlon Mack, who fractured his hand against the Jaguars. That means they turn to a committee of Jonathan Williams, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines for the eary-down and receiving load. Williams was great against the Jaguars, but the Texans are a better run defense. But Colts wide reciever T.Y. HIlton, a noted Houston killer, looks like he’s returning from his calf injury. The Colts will need to throw more often and effectively with Brissett to win.Frank Reich vs. Bill O’BrienReich’s aggressive coaching staff has gotten the better of O’Brien’s early in their sideline rivalry. The Colts play a lot of close games are are good at winning battles of attrition, despite recent losses to the Dolphins and Steelers. O’Brien needs to have his team push the right buttons late to avoid a mild upset. Stat that mattersThe Texans are the No. 13 run defense in the NFL, allowing on average 102 yards per game, but they give up 4.7 yards per carry. The Colts rank No. 9, at 96.8 yards per game at 4.3 yards per carry. This game will likely be won through the air by either Watson or Brissett. The Colts are No. 11 there, while the the Texans are No. 29.Colts vs. Texans predictionWatson had a rough outing in Baltimore but will rebound at home to lift his team in a crucial game. The Colts’ offense is missing its top power back Mack, and although Brissett will grind and deliver some big pass plays to Hilton and others to keep the Colts in it, Watson will deliver the game-winning drive late.Texans 24, Colts 20last_img read more

Durr Fuehring Lead No 2 Louisville Past Va Tech 7263

first_img BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) – Asia Durr was having a big day and No. 2 Louisville was rolling, up 20 points midway through the third quarter. Then it was Virginia Tech that grabbed the momentum, and it took Durr and fellow senior Sam Fuehring to help the Cardinals hang on.Durr scored 34 points and Fuehring had 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Cardinals overcame a near-collapse in a 72-63 victory Sunday.”I got some good shots out there,” Durr said after making 11 of 21 shots overall, including 5 of 7 from beyond the 3-point line. ”My teammates found me on the court. My coach was calling some great plays to free me, so that’s all I was trying to do was make a play.”The Cardinals (23-1, 10-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) won their ninth in a row. Fuehring made consecutive driving baskets in the final quarter after the Hokies had closed to within 62-56 with under four minutes to play, allowing Louisville to avoid an upset.”That was a huge win for us,” Durr said. The 30-point game was the 12th of her career. That the Hokies made it interesting was no surprise to Louisville coach Jeff Walz.”They’re a really good basketball team. They can make shots in a hurry and there’s some years you just don’t get the bounces,” he said. ”You can sit there and probably take 10 minutes out of their 10 conference games and instead of them being 2-8, they could easily be 7-3. I mean, it’s something else and that’s really what I tried to explain to our kids throughout the whole game.”Dara Mabrey scored 17 points to lead the Hokies (15-8, 2-8), who scored the last 11 points of the third quarter to get within 51-42, then scored six straight midway through the final quarter to get within 62-56. But Mabrey missed a pair of free throws with 3:49 to play that would have pulled Virginia Tech within 62-58. Regan Magarity, who had 14 points and eight rebounds, scored inside with 34 seconds left to make it 66-63, but Durr hit a pair of free throws with 25 seconds remaining for the Cardinals, boosting their lead back to five.”We have to get rid of those moments in games when we kind of lose focus,” the Hokies’ Taylor Emery said. ”We’ve been saying the same thing over and over again, but this game, I feel, we played very well about three, three-and-a-half quarters and we kind of let them go on a run. We came back, but if we wouldn’t have let them go on a run, it would have been a closer game and we wouldn’t have had to come back.”Durr hit two more free throws with 13.2 seconds left to keep the Cardinals on top of the ACC standings.BIG PICTURELouisville: With most of the team shooting poorly, seniors Durr and Fuehring saved the day. They combined to make 19 of 33 shots, while the rest of the Cardinals were 8 for 28. The pair was 12 for 12 from the line, and Durr accounted for all five of Louisville’s 3-pointers.Virginia Tech: The Hokies have talent, but nowhere near the depth necessary to compete with the nation’s elite programs without a lot going right. In the first half, Virginia Tech had eight turnovers that the Cardinals turned into 11 points, while the Cardinals had just one turnover. In the end, cleaning that up could have meant the difference for the Hokies.UP NEXTLouisville: The Cardinals are home next Sunday to face No. 25 Miami.Virginia Tech: The Hokies will be on the road to face Duke on Thursday night.Print Friendly Version Box Score (PDF) Story Linkslast_img read more
